Want to Host Your Friends? Have a Garage Party!

Have a Garage Party!

Needing a place where you can enjoy the game and a cold beer with your friends? You may be surprised to realize that you have that space right in your own home and you haven’t even realized it. Here’s how you can fix up your garage to become the perfect hang out spot.

Perfect for Those Weeknight Get Togethers

Every room in a house has a purpose. You may have even begun using your basement or other areas of your home for things like a home theater or a gym, or a play room for the kids. This means that you don’t really have any big space left in your home to host those Friday night hangouts or casual weeknight games.

Have you ever seen TV shows where characters hang out with an old TV in the garage? This is the ideal location for a night of watching TV, playing a game of poker, or just hanging out. You won’t disturb anyone in the home, and there is plenty of space.

It doesn’t take much to set up a garage so that it’s a great place to relax. Just leave the car outside and you can have the place ready to go for a night of fun.

Start by decluttering what you have stored in the garage. Find a way to store anything like sports gear, tools, and other supplies in a shed or the basement, perhaps. Consider getting rid of some things if you aren’t using them.

Now move on to rearranging the garage. Bring in some seating such as an old couch, a TV that will get reception for the game, and a table to hold your drinks. Now you just need some chicken wings, chips, beer, and a deck of cards. Grab some camping chairs and a bigger table, and you’ve got yourself a makeshift poker game. For some atmosphere, a small speaker and an iPhone can be used to play your favorite music.

Keep Cool the Easy Way: Open the Garage Door!

If you are having these hang outs in the summer, there’s one simple way to keep your hang‑out spot cool. The breeze will come right in if you open the garage door. It may be a good idea to let the neighbors know that you’re having a game night if you tend to get a bit rowdy with the cheering, but otherwise, have a blast!

If you want a little more privacy, or your neighbors aren’t that friendly, you can keep the garage door closed, and use fans or a small air conditioning unit to keep the place cool.
